Connecting providers

DevAware OS is provider-independent. You connect the providers you already pay for; DevAware OS routes to them.

Local open-source runtime

Install a compatible open-source local runtime and pull a chat-capable model. DevAware OS detects the runtime and launches it only if it is not already serving — it does not install third-party runtimes for you. Configure the URL and default model in Settings.

BYO-key cloud

Add your own cloud provider API key in Settings. Keys are encrypted at rest via the OS keychain (Keychain, DPAPI, or libsecret) and never reach the renderer. A plaintext fallback is explicitly marked when the keychain is unavailable.

OAuth CLI session

If a supported AI CLI is on your PATH, DevAware OS can route its OAuth session through it. This consumes your own provider plan.

Cost separation

The DevAware OS subscription covers the desktop application. Provider usage is billed by your chosen provider, on your plan, under their terms. DevAware OS includes no provider credits or quota.
