What Claude Code is

Claude Code is a coding agent that works from the terminal, an IDE, the web, and chat surfaces, installed via a shell script and offered across Pro and Max plans with Bedrock and Vertex AI compatibility for enterprise (claude.com/product/claude-code, accessed 2026-05-24). It is designed to build, debug, and ship directly from those surfaces.

Where they differ

  • Role: Claude Code is the agent that executes; DevAware OS is the governance and validation layer that can sit around an agent CLI, including one running in its embedded terminal.
  • Pipeline: DevAware OS makes intent analysis, governance blocks, clean-prompt compilation, and validation gates explicit stages; Claude Code presents execution surfaces rather than a named pipeline.
  • Provider model: DevAware OS is provider-independent and brings your own keys or local runtime; Claude Code runs on Anthropic's own plans and model access.
  • Workspace: DevAware OS consolidates chat, real terminals, preview, browser inspection, file tree, and Git into one governed surface.

Pricing model

Claude Code is offered through Anthropic's Pro and Max plans, which bundle the provider's own model usage. DevAware OS does not bundle provider usage: an OAuth-connected CLI session consumes your own provider plan, and the DevAware OS subscription pays only for the governed command center. The two costs are billed separately.

No price-versus-price table: peers bundle AI compute into their plans, DevAware OS does not. See the DevAware OS pricing structure; live prices live in the secure Account Console.

Frequently asked

Is DevAware OS a Claude Code wrapper?
No. DevAware OS is provider-independent and can govern any AI CLI or shell running in its embedded terminal. The pipeline and command center are its own product surface, not a wrapper around one vendor's agent.
Do I still pay my provider when using DevAware OS?
Yes. If you connect a cloud provider or an OAuth CLI session, that usage is billed by the provider on your own plan. DevAware OS does not include or resell provider usage.
